DELETING YOUR MINOU ACCOUNT =========================== Google Play requires this page to exist and to be accessible without installing the app. Here it is. FROM THE APP, IN THREE SECONDS ------------------------------ Open Minou, go to Profile, scroll to the bottom, tap Settings, then Delete my account. Deletion is immediate and doesn't require any confirmation by email. In older versions of the app, "Delete my account" is directly at the bottom of Profile. WITHOUT THE APP --------------- Write to cevrard.ca@gmail.com from your account's email address, asking for deletion. We reply within 30 days, and in practice much sooner. WHAT IS DELETED --------------- Your profile, your username, your avatar, your messages, your alerts, your declared neighbourhood, your notification tokens and your alert area, the app's language, your hearts and your votes, what you sent or received about a found cat (attached photos, numbers), and the record of the days you opened the app. Permanently. Only database backups made before the deletion may still contain this data: they're used only to restore Minou after an outage. WHAT REMAINS, AND WHY --------------------- Your cat observations remain, without your username: the cards display "a former member" instead. They document cats that belong to the street, not to the person who's leaving. Deleting them would leave holes in the neighbourhood's history, the history that neighbours look up the day a cat goes missing. What still links them to your former account, said plainly. The address of each photo file contains your account's internal identifier, a string of numbers and letters that isn't your username. Once the account is deleted, this identifier no longer leads to any username or any email address in Minou, but someone who had noted it beforehand could still group your old photos and their dates together. Also remaining, with no link to your account, are the text of the bug reports you sent and the nicknames you suggested for a cat. If you want a specific photo to disappear, take it down before you leave: on the cat's card, tap your photo to enlarge it, then "Take my photo down". After the deletion, write to us at cevrard.ca@gmail.com and we'll take down your photos. PHOTOS ------ A photo that is no longer mentioned by any card, any observation or any profile is deleted from storage after seven days. Your avatar goes with your profile. DELETING PART OF YOUR DATA, WITHOUT DELETING YOUR ACCOUNT --------------------------------------------------------- You don't have to erase everything to make something disappear. Three actions, in the app, with no request to make and no waiting period: - A photo: open the cat's card, tap your photo to enlarge it, then "Take my photo down". It disappears right away, and the file is erased from storage after seven days. - A card you created: at the bottom of the card, "Delete my card". This is possible as long as no one else has added a photo to it, and outside of an alert. It disappears from everyone's map and Dex, and its photos are erased from storage after seven days. If a neighbour has already photographed this cat, the card also belongs to the neighbourhood: you can still take down your own photos. - Your declared neighbourhood: the Area tab, "Change" next to your area, then "Clear my area".
